There is No Planet B: an IFSC Walking Tour in a Time of Climate Breakdown (Video)

29 October 2026

As part of Culture Night 2026, Financial Justice Ireland hosted There Is No Planet B: An IFSC Walking Tour in a Time of Climate Breakdown.

Our walking tour was organised by Darragh Deighan-Gregory of Financial Justice Ireland in collaboration with Culture Night Dublin and contributors from the Young Members Committee of Unite the Union, Christian Aid Ireland, Comhlámh, Friends of the Earth Ireland, the European Commission Expert Group on Farmland, Community Action Tenants Union, Global Citizenship Education facilitators and the arts.

After a summer of terrifying heatwaves that brought drought, wildfires and an alarming loss of life, we wanted our walking tour to explore the connections between Dublin's financial district and ecological breakdown. Our speakers invited us to consider how the IFSC plays an outsized role in setting our planet ablaze with wildfires, guzzling fossil fuels with dirty investments and diverting clean energy into limitless data centre expansion. Yet despite the stark theme, those who spoke during our tour showed us how we can resist these interlocking crises by illuminating pathways to a just transition that prioritises human flourishing and well-being over profit, growth-at-all-costs economic thinking, and ecological devastation.

We were delighted to be joined by folk musician Seán McKenna, who accompanied us and performed ballads along the tour's route.
